Skiing (Cross Country)

There are some beautiful cross country trails at the Cam-Rock park (between Cambridge & Rockdale).

Sledding

We love to sled a the Cam-Rock III park (see map) .  There is a long hill which is great for safe sledding.  The wooded surroundings are so peaceful.  Most likely you'll get the hill to yourself.

Another good spot for kids is West Side Park located on Route PQ just south of Route 12.  Parking is on Pleasant Street (it's a 5-10 minute walk from The Victorian).  There is a warming house and ice skating also.

There are also some nice hills at Lake Ripley Park off of Park Road.

Ice Skating

Westside Park on PQ & Pleasant (just S. of Rt. 12) has a great outdoor skating rink in downtown Cambridge including a warming house.  There’s a great playground there and sledding also.

Ice Fishing

Enjoy ice fishing on Lake Ripley by way of the beach at Lake Ripley Park off of Park Road or at the boat launch at the end of Island Lane.  Check out the fishing huts and enjoy this fun sport, but watch your step.

Snowmobiling

Cambridge is located in Jefferson County which has 182.7 miles of County snowmobile trails and 290 miles of club trails for a totals of 427.7 miles.  Click on this link to the Jefferson County Snowmobile Trail website for additional information and a map.

The brave ones ride over frozen Lake Ripley, however, there are many trails in the area including the Glacial Drumlin trail which becomes a snowmobile trail in the winter.  Heathers Bar in Rockdale (Off of Route B two miles south of route 12) is a main snowmobilers hub.
